You Might Be Wondering…

Q. What is Learning for Leverage?

A. Initially launched in 2004 as a strategic partnership with Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski and the Software Association of Oregon to better train the state’s technology workforce, LfL has evolved into a national independent training network that caters to technology industry professionals, service providers, entrepreneurs and executives.

Q. What type of training does LfL offer?

A. We offer a continually evolving list of workshops in topic areas including: software development and IT service management strategy, internet marketing and social media, communication skills and team building, business development and sales, as well as our key focus around technology business strategy and leadership. LfL also routinely enhances and refines our course offerings based on participant feedback, industry trends and the needs of local companies.

Q. Who attends your training sessions?

A. Our continuing education offerings are designed for the professional. Participants could be looking to enhance their skill set for their current position, exploring their next career possibility or learning new skills to grow into their next professional endeavor. Our students are entrepreneurs, consultants, contractors, and those employed by larger companies.

Q. How does LfL make training so affordable?

A. We constantly strive to provide affordable and high quality training through strategic partnerships, grants or workforce subsidy programs. If you want to stay informed of these kinds of opportunities, simply email us with your needs and/or sign up for our newsletter.

Q. What is your refund policy?

A. We know that circumstances do arise that are beyond control. Due to our contracting with third-party vendors, LfL respectfully asks that you provide 5 business days cancellation notice to receive a 50 percent refund or 10 business days notice to receive a full refund. Substitutions may also be made without penalty at any time, provided the new participant meets any prerequisites for the course.

Q. Do you offer group discounts?

A. Depending on class size and the nature of the class, we do offer various discounts – including if an organization or organizer signs up four people, the fifth person is free. If you have enough people interested in a class for it to be held privately onsite at your company, we also provide discounted rates. Simply email us with your request and we will follow up with you within 2 business days.

Q. Who are the LfL instructors, and how do you find them?

A. LfL works with instructors who have extensive, real world experience and receive high approval ratings from participants who’ve attended their workshops. They are viewed as thought leaders in their areas of expertise, are open to customizing their offerings for our customer base and are eager to participate in providing ongoing learning opportunities for professionals. Sometimes they have sought out LfL, asking to teach a particular class, and other times LfL has approached them with a training event in mind. LfL is always looking for outstanding trainers to add to our talent pool. If you are considered a thought leader in your area of expertise and think we would be a good match, please contact us for potential opportunities.

Q. What trainings will you offer in the future?

A. We are continuously adjusting our course offerings based on industry needs and customer requests. To be notified of courses in the field you are interested in, please sign-up for our newsletter and send us your requests via email.

Q. What do I need to bring to class?

A. All you need to bring is yourself. You are welcome to bring something for note taking, but we typically ask that electronic devices only be used when necessary, unless it’s required for the specific class. You are also encouraged to bring business cards for networking with fellow course attendees.

Q. What can I do to prepare for a class?

A. If there are pre-reading requirements, LfL will provide those details in the registration confirmation or shortly therafter in a follow up email. Pre-requisites will be clearly listed in the course descriptions.

Q. Can the LfL provide in-house training for my employees?

A. Absolutely. All of our trainers/instructors are available for customized, organization-specific training. LfL will work with you to meet your customized educational needs, in terms of both format and content. Due to the fact that our instructors are highly sought after for consulting, coaching and training work – planning ahead and scheduling for 1-3 months in advance is suggested.
