Overview

ITIL is a library collection of practices for management and delivery of IT services in support of organizational business services and, through decades of constant refinement, has become the de-facto framework for IT departments of all types of organizations. Version 3 presents these practices in a service lifecycle model based on the new book set:

  • Service Strategy: Views the gathering of business objectives and expectations and provides insight on how to ensure your IT Services map to them.
  • Service Design: Taking the agreed requirements for the business and developing a solution to meet the documented needs for successful business services.
  • Service Transition: Manage change while implementing new or revised processes and services, controlling risk and quality assurance while modifying the infrastructure.
  • Service Operations: Day to day operation of the IT Services as defined by the above.
  • Continual Service Improvement: Monitoring the operation with a focus on the opportunity to improve services through a holistic, cyclical approach to service delivery.
